Joining the YES Initiative
How to Become a Member & College Structure

The YES Initiative is a governance model that brings together diverse stakeholders to collaborate on the protection and sustainable development of the Yellow Sea.
Members join one of eight Colleges based on their affiliation and expertise to facilitate structured cooperation and decision-making

College Structure & Roles

Each member must select a College that best represents their organization or expertise.
This classification enhances efficiency in cooperation and facilitates specialized discussions.

College 1: International Organizations

UN-affiliated agencies and global environmental or water resource organizations Multilateral cooperation networks and policy research institutions

College 2: Local Government / Congress

Local governments (metropolitan, provincial, county, and municipal administrations) Local councils and legislative bodies related to environmental policies

College 3: Public Agencies

National and regional public institutions related to environmental management Marine research and water management authorities

College 4: Civil Corporations

Private companies engaged in marine conservation, water treatment, and sustainable business practices Corporations promoting ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) initiatives

College 5: Local Community / NGOs

Environmental and conservation-focused NGOs Local community organizations advocating for sustainable development

College 6: Academic Agencies / Universities / Schools

Universities, research centers, and educational institutions conducting marine and environmental studies Primary and secondary schools participating in environmental education programs

College 7: Research Institutes

Institutions conducting scientific studies on marine ecosystems, pollution, and sustainability Laboratories and technology developers specializing in water resource management

College 8: Specialists

Individual experts from academia, industry, public sector, and international organizations Environmental policymakers, marine conservationists, and sustainability consultants

Membership Application Process
Institutions and individuals interested in joining the YES Initiative must follow these steps:
  • 1. Complete the Membership Application Form (Download Application Form Button)
  • 2. Application Review & Approval by the Secretariat
  • 3. Successful Membership Registration & Participation in College Activities
Important Notes
  1. Each member must select only one College upon registration.
  2. Members actively participate in decision-making and projects within their College.
  3. College-based cooperation enhances effective policy development and implementation.
